New tyre calling out to me.....
The weather outside is frightful.......................and I'm getting cabin fever and winter just started.

Re: New tyre calling out to me.....
I got those same shoes...Except I had to put them under the tree myself. Desert ITs right?
Re: New tyre calling out to me.....
Ummmm, thats your living room isnt it. My wife would kill me on the spot.... using my own tools.

Re: New tyre calling out to me.....
What size is that tire? I am getting tires and was wondering if the 120 was wide enough. Mine has a 130/90 street tire on it currently, but I am heading more towards offroad than dualsport.

DOT?
Is this tire DOT approved? Or do you run them anyway up in ORegon?

At least he's not using his wife's 20qt stockpot as a center stand.

I'm pretty much a rules oriented guy but I'm going to chance it on this one.
Re: New tyre calling out to me.....
NON DOT: but this tire rocks!!!! Considered by many in Central Oregon as the best rear tire money can buy for this area/terrain mix. It runs long, wears like steel. I've been pulled over three times with the Maxxis Desert IT on and no-one ever checked my tires, one Officer even pulled moe over "because of the knobbies" he said he thought it was a non plated dirt bike.

Re: New tyre calling out to me.....
I'm running the D606's right now, so far they have been a great tire. I'm going to try the Dessert It's next time around, I've read a lot of good stuff about them.
Some people don't like the front Dessert IT tire though, they are running a MT21 on the front and the IT in the rear. A lot of people have think that is the perfect combo. Hmmmmm.

Hey Stroupdog, how is your GiantLoop holding up from the sun? Does leaving it on all the time make it fade fast?

I don't leave my bike in the sun, that's bad for everything, not just ballistic cordura.

Re: New tyre calling out to me.....
I'm cheap...just bought a Kenda Trakmaster II...not sure whether it's any good yet, as I haven't put it on.
I usually run Pirelli MT21s, but now they are wanting over $70 for one.

I am getting a TrackmasterII for the rear and a Maxxis IT intermediate for the front.

Re: New tyre calling out to me.....
We had a little tire time at Hodakaguy's today.
The trick to installing the new tires is to get the Yamaha & Suzuki guy to do the work for you.

Here's the new tread...Maxxis Desert I-T's front and rear!

Re: New tyre calling out to me.....
I have the Maxxis IT front and rear now. I don't like the front as much as I liked the MT21. I'm going to switch back to the MT21 front but keep running the IT rear, it rocks!!

Re: New tyre calling out to me.....
I was running balding BS trail winds or something like that and honestly don't know of anything different...Well see how I like these.
Re: New tyre calling out to me.....
Been runing Maxxis Desert IT rears and Dunlop D739 FA fronts for a few years and think this is the ultimate combo. NOT DOT but worth the ticket if that ever happens.

There's nothing like a fresh Desert IT, especially if someone else mounts it for you.
The IT does not say, "Not for Highway Use," so it must be DOT approved, correct?

Not likely...Just keep the front wheel down and the Po Po should leave you alone.
