Customising a rally type fairing

Post  AJsgp on Thu Dec 11, 2008 4:58 am

It's really no big deal for some, but it's an epic just yet for myself. The good part about something like this,is,the memories will always stick around with you for a long time.
Introduction :
Before the whole thing got started,I've bought a used 2002 XR650R with already high milege of 60,000km.I've gotten used to the bike doing the weekend trails almost every sunday.

The Mods :
The XR have been slowly built up for the highway long run.I've fitted a Acerbis Sahara 25l tank, black excel rims, and was customising a rally type fairings which have been much influenced by those dakar rallye bikes. But the idea is simple,i got a beaten up Honda NX650 front fairings, and did some fibreglass job.

Here's the process of welding a bracket at the front of the bodyframe to hold the headfairing bracket.

At this point,it looks like it's a screwed up job.

I've added a KTM radiator fan for cooling the bike on traffic situation.

It takes 2 weeks to complete the fairings job.

And on it's 1st day out.

2 weeks after the fairings done, did one tight trail
