I geeked my front rim at 60 mph

I geeked my front rim at 60 mph.

Today I ran 70 miles. During that trip I hit a hidden mini wash. When the front suspension bottomed out and it sounded like a .22 rifle shot. The pictures are not very pretty. The rim didn't crack but, is bent.

Now I have to decided if the replacement will be from Honda, DID or someone else.

Any recommendations? I really do not feel like lacing the rim by myself.

First, you might be able to fix that. It's only on one side, it's pretty contained to the side, it's not overly stretched.
Second, the Honda rims are made to stretch instead of crack and break. I think it's an advantage. I've seen some rims (no spokes, hubb etc) go for pretty cheap lately.

It is on both sides. The first two pictures are the left side. The third picture is the right side.

What method would I uses to fix the rim? Huge hammer?

It appears to me the inside of the rim is still round. So I'd use a lever arm like they use to straighten handlebars. Or, I'd use a long pipe wrench with some cloth of wood to protect the aluminum rim. Then slowly push or pull it back into place. Then see if it's can be true with the spokes.
Or I'd use a large C clamp to work the two sides against each other. See which one doesn't seem to way to force the rim into the center hubb direction.

Probably someone has a better idea...

Ya got nothing to lose really. I think it's likely to work. Or it will work until you find a replacement rim.

There's a bicycle company that makes a handlebar and subframe straightener I think. Someone else makes one too that is better I think but I can't remember who it is-maybe not...

Are there not companies that can straighten the rim out, I know they do it for autos. Maybe look up a local place that does auto rims and see if they can do a spoked rim, I would think they could....and from what I know it does not cost much to have an auto rim done.

Before you think about repair, check the inner rim, at the factory "weld" for cracking.

I thought it was a fluke when I discovered a crack, but apparently it's not uncommon.

So those things actually DO serve a purpose. I've always thought of them as bling.

Buy a new one or a good used one there cheap and wheels are easy to DIY lace and true.

Man, that should go on a list of things to check when tires are changed.
