BRP on Old Bulls in Australia
Hi all my name is Greg
I own a web site in Australia called Old Bull Trailriders which is mainly for the over 30 trail rider, www.obtrailriders.com
My XR650R was purchased from GHR which is the Honda factory appointed off road race team. The team had built it for the 2005 Australian Safari. The safari was never ran in 2005 so the bike just sat in workshop until I purchased it. I was told that they had spent over 100hrs building the bike and the cost including purchase cost of the bike and all the bits and pieces was over $28000.00. I didnt pay that much (who would?) I worked out to purchase a new XR650 and do the mods I wanted would cost me over $14000, so to buy this one with more mods than I could ever dream of for less then that I was happy as!
Firstly the bike as I got it
- Full Staintune system ( hand built by Staintune )

- HRC engine kit, kit contains HRC camshafts, primary drive change, Timing chain, Hi comp piston HRC components thru out the engine
- Head work Tekniks penrith
- Choke plate removed and carby rejetted ( have to tilt bike and flood to start when cold )
- Cold air intake from the states

- Teknik motorsport did all the suspension work and built the engine
- MSC steering damper under bar mount bars nearly 2 inches higher then standard

- Vortex with two setting switch on the bars and 10 under seat setting
- Oversize front disc brake EBC

- Braided front brake line (Goodridge)
- Ballards rear brake disc Fin
- Ballards alloy chain block protector
- S M Pro black rims
- Tee N Cee custom sticker kits
- Pro Taper Windham bend fat bars
- K&N air filters and Twin filters
- Unabiker radiator guards
- Chain Gang sprocket and chain set (15 / 43 fast running)

- Stealth rear sprocket and chain set (14 / 48 for bush work)

- Michelin Bib Mousse Tubes front
- Michelin heavy duty rear tube
- Michelin M12 tyres front and rear
- Michelin Desert rear 140/80 - 18
- Trailtech speedo / trip meter

- CRF450x Trip meter for double checking distances when doing trail tours

- I have three fuel tanks for the bike one standard, a 16 litre and a mother of a 25/27 litre
The photos below are from 2006 when I raced the Australian 4 day enduro championship
