El Camino Amarillo - NM

Here's an exploration ride I did a couple of weeks ago:

Ditch took me on an exploratory ride of Camino Amarillo.
It is located just east of the Jemez Pueblo in North NM.
Here is a panorama view from near the top looking west ( I used a cheapo cell phone camera).
It was beautiful:


To get to this view we started at the Walatowa gas station:




This is Ditch, that led the way up.


The ride up is very rocky and precarious in some sections.
There are some neat red rock canyons to look down into.








We took in sights:

also cool to look at:
















When we finally made it to the section approaching the top, we saw that there were lots of rocks and sections that made me very uncomfortable to attempt to scale w/ my 650R. Ditch failed to mention how rocky & steep the trail gets. The very rocky section is approx 2.5 miles long from near the top that then connects to Bridge Rd. We decided to turn back and attempt the entire trail/loop from the north end on a next ride. I felt it would be easier to do this rocky section going downhill from north to south. Funny thing is, we did not take any pics of this section....we left it for a "surprise" for somone else on another day.

MAN that is some pretty country there.
