Smaller Blinkers

Post  Focker on Tue Nov 25, 2008 12:35 am

I previously posted the relocation of my front turn signals but this is another change that I made today.
It took a bit of work to install the rears only because the bulbs were clear. :x
I went to Auto Zone today and bought amber bulbs which had to be hard wired. I know it will suck when I have to replace them...But I'll probably make an upgrade when the time comes. Not only did I have to hard wire the bulbs...I had to break out my trusty Dremel and carve out more vacancy for the bigger bulb.

I took off the rear helmets hangers (you know what I'm talking about) and replaced them with these.

Here s a top view...I shouldn't have an issue with snapping these off when I turf it.

Here are the new smaller front signals.

Looks great, I really like the small clean look. Not sure about hard wiring the bulbs though. Keep up the sweet mods.

An idea I had was to install the appropriate bulb socket but Radio Barn didn't have em. Hard wiring isn't to big a problem except of a burn out on a trip and even at that hand signals will do fine. I also considered some amber LED's that would fit in the tiny housing. I didn't want to mess with the flash rate issues so standard bulbs it is. The rears aren't the brightest (either am I) but I'm street legal. I'll probably resort to hand signals and keep the Five O happy with having all the necessary signals on the bike.

Ok...I'm at it again.

I junked the teeny tiny lights and added license plate mounted blinkers. Don't ask me why I have a blinker fetish. I got these from the same seller who hooked me up with the previous signals...Plus he through in 4 extra bulbs for the fronts & 4 for the rears.

The front and rear blinkers are a better match cosmetically for my compulsive disorder personality (sounds better than anal).

Here you can see that they're a nice noticeable turn signal.
I also swapped my brake light out with a LED board that I had in a previous bike.

Next thing you will want is to have blinkers on the side of your helmet. Maybe those small ones would work?
