Street legal XR in Oklahoma

Hello all,

I have had my 01 xr650r for a bit over a year now. Got it tagged now, but still don't ride it much. Anyone wanting to know the tricks to getting an R tagged here, drop me a line.

I ride a 04 BMW 1150 GS, selling it..
Is the XR650R over kill for fire roads, 2 track?
How far would you ride it on back roads to get to where you were going??

I have a buddy in Kansas who love his BRP for exactly that sort of riding. My only suggestion is that the BRP has the worst seat I've ever parked my rear end on. The Renazco is arse heaven ...

I agree on the stock seat being a torture device. I don't mind the hard seats on my YZ's because I spend most of my time on the pegs anyways, but the XR kills me. I have a soft foam coming and will try that and see if I can stand it. I am a Corbin dealer.. anyone heard how their seat for the XR is?

If I am going to ride in tight woods, I will be on my YZ250. The XR feels too top heavy, but for open stuff and dirt roads etc. it is about perfect. As far as how far I would ride it... with the stock seat, not too far!

My situation is similar. I use my XR for desert stuff and long runs. And I have a Cal plated KDX200 a friend of was a Kawi Supercross mechanic went completely through for me and it barks. I tried the Guts soft foam seat and it wasn't significantly better IMHO. At that time Renazco was offering $100 off to locals. I think he stopped. I got a used seat off eBay for $10 and dropped it off with him. I wouldn't be in a hurry to get it back if you get my meaning.

Well, I installed the soft foam yesterday, and rode the pig in to the shop today. Only about a fifteen mile trip... The seat is notably softer than the stocker, and I will leave it at that for a while. If any locals have the Corbin or the Renzaco(?) I would like a test sit before I throw out more coin.

Hay Bodie,i'm tryin like hell to get an r tag for my brp.To big for my tight woods and runnin out of places to ride.Any tips would b great.

I had to show a receipt for the parts that made the bike comply with state laws ( turn signals, horn, hi/lo headlight tailight non-resettable odometer and mirrors. I gave them the MSO, paid them and got the tag. I did use the help (twice) of a willing notary to get the paperwork to pass the scrutiny of the tag agent. The only inspection of the bike was the frame number and odometer.

Its so hard in NY.Its like you're tryin to title a stolen bike,it sucks.I've got my quad registered and i can't ride hardly anywhere with out gettin hasseled.I'm just tryin to find someone that did it by me or close.I just don't know wut the big deal is if it complies with motor vehicle safety laws.

I wish I could get my tagged here in Oregon, but they aren't having any of that here!

I've had no trouble as long as the pig is 2002 or older. At least here at my local DMV...

That worn out examples with plates that don't run will start showing up for sale soon for cheap. Then part out what is left after transferring all your good parts to the plated frame.

I know firsthand that the process works...
