Exhaust headers glow red and 6000' elevation
Hello,
I was wondering if anybody has an aftermarket header on their BRP that glows red hot after about 10 min. of stop and go riding. Is this normal with aftermarket, high flow exhaust. I don't recall the stock header ever doing that. I'm also trying to get the jetting set up for 6,000+ elevation here in in Colorado.
What are you guys running at this elevation? And has anybody hooked up a tach to their BRP? As always, thank you sooooooooo much for the help and information!!

Can't help you with the header glowing. Sounds lean?
As far as tachometers are concerned, I just recently installed the Acewell 3901 on my bike, with tach, and I really like it. It's got a large display, easy to read at night, and even has water temp.

LEAN
I was able to contact FMF and ask what they use on the bike with the set up I have, they said to go with a 175 main instead of the 162 I had. I changed it out last night and ran it a again for 10 min, stop and go. The header was still red hot, just not as far down as last time.
where did you puchase the tach?

I got it here. Don't know if they're exclusive dealers for the US or not. They're out of Southern California, which meant quick shipping for me. They've shipped all my orders within 24 hrs. Make sure you order the $10 additional cable to hook up to your speedo drive in the front wheel. It makes installation super simple. The tach function is also nice because you always have the analog bar-type over the speedo, and you can also set it to have a digital readout below it, though I run it with the water temp displayed there.

Also, with the header, you might try getting it ceramic coated inside and out. There's been discussions about it on AdvRider and SuperMotoJunkie. Seemed to cure it. Also supposed to help with overheating in general as it gets a large portion of the heat away from the radiators.

I concur
I had my Pro Circuit T-4 pipe coated through Doug Thorley (I have their coated headers on my dually) and it was $70 plus shipping to them. I taped off the male ends of the slip fit joints. They don't want to do the muffler for several reasons.
Not sure the temp difference on my pig but the temp difference on my dually from uncoated headers to coated headers was 400 degrees - no sh*t!
