Flat Tyre Valve Stem

Post  Mauser on Wed Jul 16, 2014 2:27 pm

Never had that before...went for short ride yesterday and had a flat...by chance I was within 70 yards or my friends house, couldn't spot any nail so tried putting some more air in and found the valve stem had come away from the tube....lol....swapped tyres whilst I had the chance as rear was nearly worn out....all good now  BRP smile

Did the rim lock slip and let the tire spin on the rim and pull the stem out?

That is pretty old, I end up putting a huge nail through my tube before they get that old.  beat head

Just old rubber , even tubes age and start cracking after some time , get a new one for the other wheel too just to be safe .

Do you tighten down the nut on your tire valve. If you do and your tire spins on the rim or you get a flat, it will pull the tire valve out of the tube. I f you run the nut to the top against the bottom cap it allows the valve core to move lessening the chance of ripping it out of the tube. Not that any XRR has enough torque to spin the rear tire or tyre. lol
