Good points and bad point for using a neck brace.

Post  AURORA on Sun Dec 22, 2013 2:20 pm

The purpose of this thread is to start a discussion on the good points and bad point for using a neck brace.

One thought in particular.

What is your thoughts on how the neck brace change, for better or worst, the point on your body where the pressure/impact is applied.

So the neck brace saves your neck but now damages your spine?

I wear a Leatt brace.

A pro rider friend thinks the neck brace is not a good idea.

Any doctors here that can give and opinion?

Mauser, just because you played doctor as a kid with your girlfriend, this does not qualify you as a medical doctor.

Note: If you are from New Zealand replace Mauser's name with your name and change the word girlfriend to sheep. razz

 BRP smile Bump thats funny
Don't bend Bob, Maus' is seriously suspect sometimes LOL
Oh, and I've refused to grow up, I still play that game  naughty

I think a Leatt (not one of the cheap ripoffs!) is a good idea. LOTS of science has gone into the design, and if I'm not mistaken the designer has a medical background?
Anyway, it's not the spine which takes the impact but the shoulders take the brunt.
Yeah, guilty here, I don't want one, but kids these days should be forced to grow up with them, ditto boots, back protector, helmet etc, all this must be basic kit.

The brains behind the Leatt neck brace is in fact real doctor ( not like you bunch  clown  ) ,
and the brace actualy works , only problem with them is the price they are way too overpriced for what they are ( and how much they cost to make  USA   deal  )
There are alternatives which are as good but cheaper , Alpinestar for example  bow
