Wash it down with a hose pipe not high pressure and then dry it and spray some WD40 on the shock.....then get a new flap from Honda they are cheap !!!

Yah but no worries, just clean it like Maus' said and all will be fine. This is a dirtbike, so even with the flap it will get filthy from time to time. Check for it leaking/sweating oil, that's all.

There should be a front wiper seal before the main seals this is to clean away all the crap that gets chucked on there same principle as the front fork seals....Smile

spring sock?

Post  DirtyErnie on Sat Jan 03, 2015 5:00 am

I think they make a sock or boot that goes over the spring to keep the shaft and seals clean and dry on the shock. Anybody try one of these and if so where'd you get it and part number etc? I trashed my splash flap with a paddle tire and another flap will suffer the same fate. naughty

Might be easier to make your own sock ?.....maybe with a zip down the length ?....

You could try adding a couple links to your chain to move the rear axle back, it might save your flap?

If I had a couple brain cells rattling around in there I would have done that. It's still there now just a bit shredded.
