road trip mods help
Hi,
I do know that this bike is not made to do trips and I do know it will beat the hell out of me. Even so, I would like to have a go! My biggest goals would be a windshield, a bagster for the original tank and a way to attach two bags over the side panels. Does anyone have seen any of these somewhere? or have any ideas for a diy fabrication? Any other ideas towards making my life easier, are greatly welcomed!
I promise I'll post some pictures when I'm done!
Thank you for your time,
George.

Google 'giantloop', these are the best soft bags you can buy - in the US yes, and I know cos I have 2 of them.
No rack needed, the best there is!

Great guys, thanks!
Nice looking racks Mauser! if I go with the racks idea, those will be perfect!
BuRP, do you have the 50lt one? does it take up the passenger seat? Would I be able to have my gf behind me or should I pack her in the bag??
Thanks again,
George.

Re: road trip mods help
Well, yes, I like racks too, am fond of them actually. I mean, a nice slim girl with a good............
Dunno what you mean with 'the 50L one', as they go by names. I got a Coyote and the Mojavi (Mohavi?) which are the medium and the small ones. The large one (forgot name) IS large, quite so, I suppose you could bring the kitchen sink then too.
And nope, the passenger stays where she is, with her rack & all
Serious, 4 straps is all it takes, and it sits right back on top whilst it, erm, loops down forward, sorry for the pun - but maybe that's what they meant by the naming?
A rack makes fastening a GL a bit complicated, but is possible. Best is without a rack. Oh, and you can tie a roll (tent, sleeping bag or why) on top of the GL, so now you maybe see why I really like them.
A bit costly, yes, but if you don't like the quality you get you can shoot me, scout's honour.

Re: road trip mods help
I recently did about 1600km in two days between Texas and central Mexico. No windshield, but other mods were 15/17 gearing, Clarke 4.3 tank, some spongy hand grips, Pro Moto billet rear rack with 20L Kriega bags, Wolfman small enduro tank bag, fender bag for spare tube, a pair of industrial gloves that have silicone padding. I keep my luggage weight low around 25kg. and low on the bag. I cut the fingertips off the right hand glove to facilitate paying tolls since most of the trip was on the autopista this time. The Pro moto billet rack is very light and strong, and the Kriega bags (from UK) have a 10yr warranty.
