crankshaft

Has anyone pressed the crank apart.is the balancer gear keyed or just on a taper &how is it timed.Any help would be great.

Pressed the gear off and the rod off with no problem at all.Thanks for all the help, I guess you all take that work to a shop.

Hey Rich, why are you taking apart the shaft? did you have a break down on her? We should get together and have a beer let me know if you need any extra hands during the rebuilt, I would be glad to help! I am near Wonderland. shoot me an email if you want help.

If you dont mind could you clue me into whats need to separate the cases & replace a crank, mines locked at the rod & crank.

Crankshaft

Sorry about that ,not checked site for awhile.You will need a puller for the flywheel(made mine on lathe),bearing press and bearing pullers.We used a 50ton press to split the crank(only took 30ton).The rest is normal shop tools.The thrust washers were chewed so there was brass shavings all thu the bearings,replaced all bearing.Washed cases 3times to remove all brass.
