Added indicators

Post  Mauser on Thu Feb 24, 2011 1:21 am

Hi guys,
Swapped out my loom and stator for a European version and have added indicators, thought I would share my brackets with you guys showing how to attach them without needing the rear subframe. They work very well and I can still move the bike about without catching them.....

Ricko,

do's a favour and post a photo of that subframe please? I'm busy mounting a small rack and want to reinforce this a bit, have parts made already, but would like to peruse how Honda did it - that is, assuming it's a genuine Honda part.
But also if it is not, let's a have a look please?

Burp, bit of info for you the European 650's have additional mounting lugs on the subframe for attaching the steel rear frame to, mine doesn't have these as it's a US version.

Yes Lolo,

Thanks, that helps, but my idea was/is to support the part in the photo from the lugs on the frame lower down (the one's Mauser mentions) by means of some braces.
If you've got a pic of the lower lugs..... I'd appreciate!

Do you have any kit conversion for the signals? can you give more info how you did install them? do you have also mirror, hi beam, stop lights and horn? Please I did to do my conversion before July since I booked my driving road test since I let my california driver license expired now I have to start all over again in Canada. Dawn!.

Thanks for the tips and which his the best way to do it.

Hi Bikerman,
Conversion kits ?, not sure what you mean, what I have done to get my bike how I like it....
Swapped loom with friend www.xr650r.co.uk which is a stock UK spec loom along with the stator, then added pressure switches to the brake lines to operate the rear brake light, this is the difficult part as I like the single stock fender light, I removed the stock single element bulb holder and converted a twin LED bulb into my stop and tail light. Added a horn and new switch gear and swapped out the headlight assembly.
Indicators I made the rear brackets as pictures as my fender won't take the steel subframe + didn't want steel parts on the bike lol, they all go rusty, extended the wires on the indicators and plugged them into the stock wiring loom, all the electrics works fine I have high and low beam and should pass the MOT easily in July.
Give me a shout if you need any specific pictures or info.

Ok Mauser, Lets start with what I have right now, I have the 2 hydraulics brake switches, what else do I need to install them? do I need the Banjo Switch?
I order my stator from Ricky stator and the regulator this morning, now i am ordering the Vapor with the key, I don't think it is necessary with the Key since it is 100 bucks diference just because of the key, the one without it is 97 US. so I am thinking about it. I need the signals, horn and a mirror any web site in Canada to order them from? I should be good to go and do my mods.
Please at least tell me the things I need to buy so I can start my little project on the weekend!

Thanks,
Ivan
