Spam?

Post  Focker on Mon Feb 07, 2011 8:27 am

It appears we have a "Spammer" or two on this forum.

  • I've added a report icon ...Please report any suspicious activity so that I can address the issue with the user.
  • I created a "Guest Lounge" to prevent guests from posting in "Forum Updates...Help...Comments & Suggestions".
  • I've "Banned" 3 users...I think it's the same person.

This recent spam activity has forced me to approve all members before activation can occur.

Oh Hell Focker, admit it, you just don't like 'ese' - like Vietnamese?
razz
Or you're not too fond of Jaccuzi's? Here's a novel idea: line one with a buxom blonde, and find out who's getting wet first Very Happy

I actually did click that Q.M.inTriangle-thingy today, on some spamming music thread, but it only goes to a normal reply-thingy without the link embedded in it..... so I gave it a skip.
Besides, I thought I maybe ran the risk of being considered pestering you, but now that you ask...... I will next time.
Good riddens though, and 'approving' is a good idea.

By clicking the report icon...I get a msg emailed to me with a link to the post in question.

I might have to give a few of you a Spam Police title if you start catching offenders. BRP smile

One has to enter the encryption code to finalize the confirmation process. I believe the perp is not a bot but a jerk who wants waste our time.

I've seen a good forum going to Oblivia due to spammers, porn in this case. Just add bad policing and one ends up with a bit of a different content, and next see the complaints raining in & the actual members staying away.

Isn't there an email-bombardment site or something one can 'give' email-addresses to? My thinking is, "If you spam us we'll pass on your Eddress to XYZ...", in doing so filling your Inbox with Viagra, Jacuzzi's, Enlargements and why.
Mind you, maybe I should re-register under a different name, faking location 'Vietnam'...... Cool

Seen some other sites using several images with a question like which of these are motorbikes....you have to select them correctly to get past the registration page ?, but like most things it's probably difficult to add to the existing forum Sad.
I say tie them to the ground and we run them over with our pigs ?.
