Hi everyone. I just got a 01 BRP last week. I have been riding a 07 650L for the last year. My problem is the rear suspension is really soft. It drops a good 3 to 4 inches with me on it and I am only 170 lbs. My L only goes down like a inch. Am I screwed? Need some input. Thanks.

I went to pull my swingarm to grease it yesterday and realized I need a special tool... I found 'the pig pen' which shows how to make the tools... are they necessary or is there a way to do it without? I dont weld but could cut the parts necessary... maybe someone has the tools for the swingarm and the forks in my area? (asheville nc)

On another note, I am planning on doing my fork seals... is there a writeup that I could follow with a parts list with part #'s or anything like that?

I'm considering upgrading the BRP's suspension this winter. What are the most sensible, tried and true upgrades for the front and rear?

I'll be doing the work myself.

What have you tried and what works?

Most of my riding is single/double track with the odd foray to Baja, Moab.

Skill level- advanced, not expert.

The shock on my bike has lost all damping and although there were loads last week there are no used units on UK ebay at the momment.
Now I going to get the original rebuilt but could do with a cheap unit to keep me mobile whilst the work is being done.

Do any of you know if there is a shock off another bike that will fit. For example the CRF 450 shock looks similar but is it compatible.

Thanks

I've been checking the literature and postings everywhere and have come to the conclusion to swap my stock springs for .47kg front and 11.0kg rear. I'm about 230lbs.

Is there any special consideration for fork oil I should be aware of? Should I just swap the springs up front and leave the oil alone?

I'm not doing any additional valving etc. at this time maybe later.

thanks,

I have been reading up lately on the BRP and my first maintenance thing (that I am not doing myself) will be a fork/shock rebuild (the bike is a 2000) I was quoted 300 for both front and rear with rebuild/new seals. Is this too much? My husky revalve was only 400... for both front/rear. Also, is there anyone who I should (best option) go to in the south east?
