hi guys, i own a xr650r 2003 which after approx 2 months of owning it blew the piston and barrell,on inspection i concluded this was down to lack of oil i drained about half of a litre out,i fitted a wiseco 102.4mm piston and had the barrell rebored anyway the bike ran perfect for 350 miles (slight smoke on idle which dissapeared as soon as you set off, this was on a 68s pilot, with the 65s pilot the smoke stopped i put this down to the bike running a little rich)and then it seized up again ...

I got in my first good long ride today. Was great and this area is magnificent for riding. However, I became concerned about how much noise the motor makes (aside from the exhaust sound) and can't help but wonder if something is wrong. It's whirring like a dervish, very audible. Reminds me of nothing more than the noise a bit in a drill press makes as it spins into metal. Maybe it's just things spinning around but it's loud. Oil was good. My ST has a noisy motor too but it sounds more click-clacky. ...

How strong are the standard ones.

I have ridden with a few Yamaha's that the standard bars have snapped when the bike and rider have taken a tumble.

Are Honda bars made of better stuff or is it advisable to fit Renolds or fatbars?
